Community Outreach and Mission
The Osterville United Methodist Church Community Outreach is committed to being a significant voice in the community, working to address the issues of housing, health, hunger, education and environment. Below is a list of our Outreach ministries. If you would like more information about how to participate in a program or event, please contact the church office.
Miracle Kitchen—On the first Tuesday of each month, members of our church provide soup, sandwiches and desserts for the clients of the Salvation Army in Hyannis.
Noah Shelter—Members of our church provide casseroles, salads and bread for the Noah Shelter in Hyannis (a homeless shelter).
Sandwich and Mashpee Food Pantries—Every week our church members donate food which is then transported to the pantries.
Day of Hospitality Dinner—Members of our church prepare dinner the first Sunday of each month for homeless guests who are transported to the church in coordination with the Salvation Army.
Overnight of Hospitality—One night per month, members of our church stay overnight with homeless women. Volunteers drive the women to our church, provide food and supplies, set up and put away the inflatable mattress beds, and wash the linens.
Friendship Ministry meets twice a month to teach Bible lessons to young adults with developmental challenges.
Visiting Committee—Members of our church visit elderly members in homes or nursing homes on regular basis.
Rural Missions, John's Island, SC--Adults and Youth go to South Carolina every other year to build and repair homes in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity. See us in action by clicking this link: http://ruralmission.org/news/
